My dark comedy Bella Donna won the New Play Award at the Toronto Fringe Festival in 2006. My other original plays include The Angel Capone, A Clean Breast, Coming Up for Air, Hitler Goes to Heaven, Mind Over MatterQuite ContraryTrojans for Tots, and (with Pamela Delaney) Wife Insurance. My translation of Alfred Jarry's Ubu Roi has been widely produced, most notably at the Shaw Festival and the Yale Repertory Theatre. With John Van Burek, I adapted Carl Sternheim’s 1912 comedy Citizen Schippel.  I have also translated Stéphane Brulotte’s contemporary drama about Ernest Hemingway, Shades of Papa.
As a dramaturg, I have worked at the Mark Taper Forum in Los Angeles, New Dramatists in New York City, the Playwrights Center in Minneapolis, Arena Stage in Washington, D.C., ScriptLab in Toronto, the Oregon Shakespeare Festival in Ashland, and a few other places. I have taught theatre at San José State University, the University of California at Davis and San Diego, New York University, Brock University in Ontario, and Southern Oregon University in Ashland. A graduate of Columbia University and the Yale School of Drama, I am an active member of the Playwrights Guild of Canada, the Dramatists Guild of America, and Literary Managers and Dramaturgs of the Americas. I am represented by Michael Petrasek at Kensington Literary in Toronto.
